Hot-Can Sdn Bhd Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement in Australia & New Zealand

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, January 5, 2009

Hot-Can Sdn Bhd has signed an exclusive distribution agreement in Australia & New Zealand for its revolutionary smart packaging. Hot-Can is self-heating and combines its own patented design and technology with state of the art manufacturing. Hot-Can brings to consumers a new, eco-friendly and affordable way to drink hot beverages on the go. Today's active lifestyles demand speed and convenience and Hot-Can delivers this to a whole range of potential consumers including commuters, executives and busy parents.

Hot-Can is a pioneer in the smart packaging arena and is setting new standards for quality, performance, speed and pricing of self-heating beverages in the global market whilst being fully Halal. The special double chambered aluminium can, which contains the beverage in the outer chamber and holds water and calcium oxide (quicklime) separately in the inner chamber, heats up when the button at the bottom of the can is pressed. The water then mixes with the quicklime, starting an exothermic reaction that heats the contents of the outer chamber in less then 3 minutes by 50-55°C to give the consumer a piping hot drink.

Hot-Can sees Australia and New Zealand as key markets both for Hot-Cans and Halal beverages. Over 200 billion beverage cans are sold annually so Hot-Can, with it’s patented technology, is in a unique position to exploit the growth in the self-heating beverage market.

Hot-Can Sdn Bhd’s current plant capacity is 27 million units per annum and has firm demand for over 500 million units per annum with demand projected at well over a billion units per annum. That is why even during this economic downturn the company is still vigorously planning its new plant capable of producing 200 million units per annum.

Hot-Can was developed in Malaysia by Dato’ Kenneth Kolb, CEO of Hot-Can Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and is manufactured in Kuala Lumpur. Dato’ Kenneth has spent RM20 million and 5 years to develop the hottest new packaging product on the planet. Hot-Can has chosen to launch its revolutionary product with only Halal products. This demonstrates the mass influence of the Halal market on emerging technologies. Hot-Can is not only the first Halal self-heating container; it is the only Halal self-heating container in the world.

“We certify every aspect from the self-heating container, to the ingredients used in the beverage. We ensure that even the water used is Halal.”

Hot-Can Sdn Bhd project sales of over 1 billion cans per annum in the Halal market alone and has also recently signed exclusive distribution agreements for the UK and Ireland.

Hot-Can continues to develop innovative new products such as the self-heating baby formula smart packaging with built-in infant nipple for parents on the go and food steamers that heat solid food.
