Can I place
the Hot-Can in the Microwave?
NO! The Hot-Can is aluminium and should
never be placed in a microwave. The heat engine integral with the Hot-Can is
designed to heat up the beverage without any external heat source.
Can I pour out half of the beverage and leave half for later?
The Hot-Can is not designed
for pouring. It is designed to retain heat and the heat engine is designed to
keep your beverage hot for 45 minutes at ambient room temperature. So unlike a
standard cup of coffee which gets cold if you do not drink it quickly, your
Hot-can beverage will be hot till the last drop!
Can the
drink get too hot?
Yes. If you store your Hot-Can in a hot car that may
be 40°C (104°F) for example, once the can is activated and the beverage temperature is increased by another 50°C the drink will be too hot to consume safely. We recommend that you store
your Hot-Can in a cool dry place. We do not recommend that the can is activated if it
has been stored above 25 °C. Should this occur , take caution as the Hot-Can may steam from the
bottom of the container. If the beverage gets too hot the red
warning indicator label will appear. However, be assured that the beverage in
the container will never reach boiling temperature.

How can I
be assured that the Hot-Can is safe to use?

Customer safety is our
primary concern. We use a 100% natural, non-toxic, non-flammable reaction combining
calcium oxide and water to create heat. Moreover, our Hot-Can, unlike other
self-heating products currently in the market, only produces natural
bi-products: water, calcium carbonate, and calcium hydroxide. These bi-products
are the same minerals that make up natural coral reefs in our oceans and are
commonly occurring minerals in our soil which are frequently added to soil in farming to enhance
the pH balance.
The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) of the USA has
designated calcium oxide to be Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), a standard
label applied to products that are not harmful. The Hot-Can is also designed
with many patented safety features. The heat is generated in a separate chamber
called the heat engine, which does not allow the beverage to ever come into
contact with the minerals used in the heat engine. MTL Laboratories, and Sirim
have tested and independently stated that Hot-Can is safe for
consumers.
How do I
dispose of the Container?
The container is recyclable and should be
placed in the recycling bin. Consult your local council for specific rules for
your area.

How Do You
Know When It Is Hot?
The patented heat indicator label will clearly indicate when the
correct drinking temperature has been reached, by changing from black color to
GREEN color. Should the beverage become hotter than the optimum drinking
temperature, the heat indicator label will change from black to
RED.
How hot
does the drink get?
The Hot-Can will heat up the beverage by 50°C
(122°F) from the beverage starting temperature; so if you activate the container
at room temperature of 20°C (68°F) your drink will reach 70°C (158°F); if
you activate your drink on a cold day of 10°C (50°F) your drink will reach
60°C (140°F) - still an optimum drinking temperature.

Is Hot-Can
harmful to the environment?
No. Not only is the container recyclable, it
also complies with beverage container recycling laws, or “Bottle Bills”, that
provide financial incentive to consumers for recycling. For more information
please visit www.bottlebill.org
<http://www.bottlebill.org>. In addition, our Hot-Can (unlike other self-heating products
currently in the market), only produces natural bi-products: water,
calcium carbonate, and calcium hydroxide. These bi-products are the same
minerals that make up coral reefs in our oceans and are a naturally occurring mineral in our soil and are frequently added to soil in farming to enhance the pH
balance.
Moreover, it's almost impossible to boil exactly the right amount of water for a cup of coffee -- there's always a little left over. This means you're wasting precious power, water and time, not to mention drinking twice-boiled water in your next cup. The Hot-Can heats the perfect cup of coffee in less then 3 minutes, whilst using up to 65% less energy than a standard kettle in the process.

Please take
caution:
·Keep out of the reach of young children as contents can get
VERY HOT!
·Do
not microwave this can
·Do
not pierce can
·Do
not heat this can
·Beware that upon activation this can will get VERY
HOT!
·Always use a coaster
Also…
A few things to
remember when using the self-heating can.
The can has been insulated - so
not only will it keep the beverage hot for about 45min. It will also protect
your hands.
If you are not going to use the self-heating can straight
away, you need to store at room temperature and not in the
fridge.
Why?
Because the can will heat the drink by 50°C
from the temperature the beverage starts at. So it’s important not to chill or
heat the can.
And remember to recycle your can once you have finished -
it is 100% recyclable.

What is the
Hot-Can made of?
Our container is made from common aluminum generally
used throughout the canning industry. The plastic components are made from polypropylene.
All the materials are approved for direct food contact by the
FDA.

What makes
it heat up?
Hot-Can has developed a special double chambered aluminum can
which contains the beverage in the outer chamber and holds water and calcium
oxide (quick lime) separately in the inner chamber. When the button at the
bottom of the can is pressed, the water mixes with the quicklime, starting an
exothermic reaction that heats the contents of the outer chamber in less the 3
minutes by 50-55°C to give you a piping hot drink.

What
products are found in Hot-Cans?
There are many types of low viscosity
foods available from Hot-Can, which include Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate and French
Onion soup. Hot-can is working with beverage leaders to bring you new and tasty
products.

Why shouldn't I
let my Hot-Can freeze?
Allowing your Hot-Can to freeze will cause
the heat engine to fail and may permanently damage it. You should
never allow the Hot-Can to be stored below 5°C (41°F)
Why is my Hot-Can not heating up?
In most cases it is because you have not firmly pressed the bottom of the can hard enough to fully cause activation of the heat engine.
To properly activate the Hot-can place the can upside down on a firm surface like a table or countertop. Remove the anti tamper label by peeling it off the bottom of the can. Using your thumb firmly press the in the center of the activation button at the bottom of the can until you hear a crunch sound. Gently shake the can from side-to-side for 30 sec (not up & down) and then immediately turn the can upright. Set the can down on a coaster or hold it by the center of the can where the insulated label is and wait 3 minutes.
Do not hold by the bottom of the can and do not sit the can on your lap. Gently shaking the Hot-Can during the 3 minutes of heating will eliminate any steaming.
Should you have any concerns please contact our customer service department; the number is printed on the label, or send an e-mail to the address found in our customer service section.

Why is
steam coming from the bottom of the beverage can?
Because the Hot-Can
uses 100% natural accruing minerals in its heat engine, there will be some
slight variation in the heating process. Some extra energy may escape the heat
engine located at the bottom of the can in the form of water vapor or steam.
This steam is hot so please do not allow the bottom of the can to be near exposed skin and always use a coaster. Shaking the Hot-Can will eliminate the steaming.
The beverage is safe to drink. Should you have any concerns please contact our
customer service department; the number is printed on the label, or send an e-mail to the address found in our customer service section.
Shake
Why is the
beverage not easy to pour out into a cup?
Because the Hot-Can has a specially designed drinking spout to protect your lips from getting burned, which is not designed for pouring. Should you attempt to pour, the liquid may splatter!

Why use aluminum to make Hot-Cans?
Because of its low carbon footprint!
Aluminum, unlike plastic can be recycled again and again. It does not lose any of its strength or quality in the recycling process. It can be a never-ending process that continues to save energy and resources.
That is why recycling aluminum makes sense. It saves energy—a lot of energy. Today, aluminum can recycling saves about 11.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh)—enough electricity to light a city the size of Pittsburgh for six years. This is A LOT of energy (and CO2 emission) saved!
Recycling saves energy and the fuels used to produce it. Once produced, used, and recovered, the aluminum can is completely recyclable. The process of converting used beverage cans into molten aluminum requires only about 5 percent of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore. That's like improving the miles per gallon on your car 19 times over. By recycling just one aluminum can, we save enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning about three and a half hours.
The fact that aluminum is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust and is the earth's second most used metal with the fact that the aluminum drink can is the world's most recycled packaging container - worldwide over 50% of aluminum cans are recycled with the fact that recycling aluminum drink cans saves up to 95% of the energy needed to make aluminum from its raw materials and the choice is obvious.
